Spring 2013 Are you a high school student looking for somewhere
to play over the summer? Might I suggest the Skidmore Jazz Institute in Saratoga Springs, NY? I'll be on faculty
for the first week (June 23 - 29) of this two week camp! More information can be found at the Skidmore Jazz Institute website. I've also had the good fortune to have Fred
Sturm, (writer, arranger, professor (at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI), fellow Eastman alum and friend) arrange, Diva
(an Enrico Rava tune) for the Lawrence University Jazz Band with yours truly as trombone soloist. The band recorded
the chart at Lawrence U, and I recorded my part here at the University of Illinois... and through the magic of digital technology,

University of Illinois Are you interested in the jazz trombone studio at the UofI? There are lots of playing opportunities at the school such as the Jazz Trombone Ensemble, the Concert Jazz Band, several
jazz combos, Latin Bands and even gigging at local clubs! If you're in the Champaign-Urbana area or even the Chicago area (we're a 2 1/2 hour drive south or a 30 minute
plane ride!!), don't hesitate to drop by Smith Hall to say hi, wander the halls, talk to other students, check out a rehearsal
or a concert! |
